Inside G7: The T4SM Secretariat visits member’s headquarters in Paris
On November 21st, the T4SM Secretariat visited the headquarters of G7 in Paris, gaining a first-hand look at how one of the city’s most iconic taxi companies blends tradition, innovation, and service excellence.
Our visit began with a tour of G7’s headquarters, including its academy and mechanical garage. As one of the largest taxi operators in Paris, G7 invests heavily in professional training: aspiring drivers receive comprehensive preparation for the taxi licensing exam through the company’s academy, where technical support and hands-on guidance ensure a high standard of training. Just steps away, the company’s garage keeps the fleet running smoothly, offering in-house maintenance that guarantees reliability and safety across the network.
Founded 120 years ago, G7 is one of the oldest mobility companies in France, and its heritage is visible throughout the building. A small, curated collection of historic vehicles showcases the evolution of Parisian transport: from First World War commissioned taxis to a sleek Peugeot 404 with a backstory fit for noir cinema. Currently, however, you are more likely to spot in the city’s roads the modern black electric vehicles that now define G7’s high-end fleet. The display offers more than nostalgia; it highlights how closely the company’s story mirrors the transformation of the city itself.
A stop at the dispatch centre revealed the technological backbone of the operation. G7 manages more than 50,000 rides per day using a data-driven efficiency system that monitors driver availability in real time. This ensures passengers experience shorter waiting times. The platform also guarantees transparency with their maps, which result in equitable distribution of high-demand pick-up zones, promoting fairness across the company’s 250 drivers. Notably, pre-booked trips, which can be scheduled through the G7 app, already represent 30% of total rides, underscoring a growing preference for planned mobility solutions.
Driver experience and professionalism sit at the heart of G7’s model. Every driver completes a two-day training programme focusing on company values, service quality, and customer care. The results are particularly visible in the company’s Deluxe service, renowned for offering some of the highest standards in Paris. Beyond training, G7 also cultivates a sense of community among its drivers, organising activities such as sports tournaments to maintain engagement and morale.
The company is also actively committed to inclusivity, with a strong focus on increasing the number of their female drivers, who currently represent 3% of the fleet. We even had the chance to meet with one of their female drivers to discuss her passion for this profession and G7’s ongoing female-focused initiatives (more on this soon!)
Thank you very much, G7, for inviting us and for the organisation of this visit. We also extend our regards to our Austrian Partners in Taxi40100 who joined in on this experience. This was a great opportunity. We value G7 as members and we cannot wait to visit others in the future!
